Parents’ Dilemma!

Will my child come out confident, capable, and employable?

In today’s highly competitive education sector, a degree will not suffice for getting corporate jobs. In fact, parents are really concerned about job readiness, safety & security, discipline, and overall development. Nowadays, to compete, only good higher education institutions focus on these parameters.

Lachoo Memorial College of Science and Technology, located in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, has progressively earned the confidence of parents by inculcating the disciplines of learning and developing the required skills & responsibility among students without making any false claims.

Stability and Academic Values

Lachoo College has been a part of the higher education ecosystem of Rajasthan for the last six decades. Parents often prefer such institutions because we assure continuity, stability, and a well-defined academic culture. Instead of changing directions every now and then, the college has evolved carefully and retained its core focus on education while adapting to the present career needs. Students need discipline in their growing years, and it makes each parent proud when a college encourages discipline and accountability along with education.

All these really matter a lot, and it makes Lachoo College the best sectoral college.

Building Confidence

One of the reasons why the parents trust Lachoo College is that it has an environment led by the faculty members that holistically develops students. They just do not teach for the mere completion of the syllabus, but put more emphasis on concepts, proper assessment, and personalised attention to motivate students’ participation in various non-academic activities.

Indeed, for most students, especially those from first-generation academic families, this support system comes out to be a huge help. Over time, students become more eloquent, confident, and independent. Parents, in particular, notice the improvements in their ward.

Education with Practical Relevance

Lachoo College emphasises developing strong fundamentals with more hours of practical sessions. Whether one is doing science, computers, commerce, or management, the key element in all of these programs is comprehending concepts and relating them in a sensible way with the practical sessions, roleplays and practices.

This way, students become flexible in regard to choosing their career. They do not have skills in one career; rather, they develop a good number of skills for applying in several career openings. This will only be appreciated by those who understand the ever-changing nature of the job market.

A Disciplined and Purpose-Driven Campus

A common concern among parents is whether their child will remain focused during college years. Lachoo College addresses this concern through a structured campus environment that encourages healthy engagement.

Students participate in academic events like Ideathon, cultural programs like Spunk, an Annual Fest, and skill-oriented activities workshops like Digital Marketing that enhance confidence without compromising discipline. The campus culture brings balance, helping students grow socially while remaining committed to their studies.

Being located in Jodhpur, the city which offers higher values, fewer distractions, and calmer environment compared to metros, Many parents see this as an advantage during crucial graduating years.

Lachoo College address this challenge by creating a well-structured campus setting that promotes regular interactions.

Students engage in educational activities such as Ideathon, cultural events such as Spunk (an Annual Fest), and skill acquisition workshops like Digital Marketing that boost the confidence levels of students from all faculties. The college environment ensures that the students maintain a proper balance so that they remain focused on their studies as well.

Since the college is located in the city of Jodhpur, where the values are given high preference, there are very few distractions. Thus, when compared with any metro city, many parents believe that this city is a better choice for their children in the last critical years of graduation.

Understanding Employability: What Parents Should Know?

Across India, employability has become a serious concern, particularly for professional degrees like MBA or MCA. According to India’s Graduate Skill Index 2025 by Mercer-Mettl, only 42.6% of Indian graduates are considered employable overall, meaning more than half are not job-ready[i].

A data graphic included in this blog illustrates the difference between general MBA, MCA graduates and those who receive skill-focused training. The India Skills Report 2025 data show that MBA and MCA graduates can achieve significantly higher employability (78%) when their training aligns with current industry needs, including analytical thinking and interpersonal skills. MCA graduates with updated skill sets also show significantly better employability (~71%).

For parents, this highlights an important truth. The quality of education and skill exposure matters far more than the name of the degree alone.

Studies have shown that although employers expect good communication and interpersonal skills from MBA graduates, very few of them actually exhibit them, thus portraying a large employability gap based on skill deficiency.[ii]

“The feedback from the industry revealed that employers give highest priority to the skills include communication skills (37%), decision-making skills (31%), the need to be a lifelong learner (31%), and the ability to be adaptable (29%). Sometimes, these skills rank above specialised domain knowledge in the hiring priorities of employers, because employers want to hire employees who think, communicate, and adjust quickly.”[iii]

However, another survey that was conducted recently, known as the India Skills Report 2026[iv], reveals that the overall employability rate in India is currently above 56%, where the applicants have realized that it is no longer important to be only academically qualified or have skills that relate to one specific academic domains, but, it is essential to have digital fluency and practical skills that enable organizations to boost their overall efficiency and production rates effectively.

Therefore, parents should look for a colleges that work to develop these skills within their students through a gradual process, rather than trying to prepare students traditionally for academic domains.

Prepares Students for Real Careers

The Lachoo College adopts a realistic and responsible approach toward career preparation. It is not promising job placements but is instead making the students capable and confident enough to compete. The spirit of Lachoo induces them to express ideas, work in teams, and apply classroom learning to real situations.

The guidance on career awareness motivates the students about the different professional pathways and thus prepares them for at least internships or freshers’ jobs.

The value of this approach thus supports long-term employability rather than short-term placement statistics, and is increasingly recognised by parents as the more honest and effective approach.

When students and parents think about MCA program, they no longer look at it as a checkbox on resume. They want to see it as a clear path to a career in a fast-evolving tech landscape. Today, roles in Artificial Intelligence, Full Stack Development, and Cyber Security need depth, focus, and technical grit to tackle everyday challenges.

MCA specialization is a changemaker here. It allows students to build deep expertise in one area while still standing on a strong foundation of core computer science. At Lachoo Memorial College of Science & Technology, an AICTE approved institution , the MCA program has been framed such that students can master the specific domain they are passionate about.

From Foundation to Focus: How the MCA is Structured

The MCA at Lachoo is designed in key phases. In the first year (Semesters I and II), the students get back to basics and strengthen the foundations. The first year focuses on understanding of programming, data structures, databases, operating systems, computer networks, and essential mathematical concepts which in turn brings learners from diverse backgrounds to a confident and clear deep dive.

After Semester II, the program requires a compulsory internship which are facilitated with regional IT firms and startups. It gives them their first structured exposure to the professional world. During this internship, students get a realistic sense of how software teams function, what kind of roles exist, and where their own interests truly lie.

From Semester III onwards, curriculum allows to choose a specialization aligned with their strengths and career aspirations. This approach is aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 20201, which encourages flexible, choice-based learning and a stronger connection between education, skills, and employability.

The three specialization tracks offered are

• Artificial Intelligence & Data Science

• Full Stack Development

• Cyber Security

Artificial Intelligence & Data Science: Turning Data into Decisions

We constantly hear terms like AI, machine learning, and data science in news, industry talks, and even daily apps that we use. Behind all of this are professionals who can understand data, build models, and translate patterns into decisions. The Artificial Intelligence & Data Science specialization is built for students who want to uncover this magic.

In this track, students move beyond simple statistics or textbook algorithms. They work on:

•Data analysis and visualization: understanding raw data, cleaning it, and making sense of it.

•Machine learning: building models that can classify, predict, and recommend.

•Deep learning and neural networks: exploring how systems can recognize images, text, and patterns at scale.

•Generative AI: gaining exposure to modern tools and models that can generate text, images, and more.

This path is ideal for students who enjoy data, patterns, and experimentation. It leads to roles such as Data Analyst, Machine Learning Engineer, AI Engineer, or Business Intelligence Professional—areas repeatedly identified as high-growth in national and international reports.2,3

Full Stack Development: Building Real Applications End-to-End

Every digital service that students and parents use daily—learning portals, banking apps, hospital systems, e-commerce sites—has full stack teams behind it. Full stack developers are the professionals who understand how the user interface, business logic, and database all work together seamlessly.

In the Full Stack Development specialization, students learn to build complete applications step by step:

•Frontend development: designing and implementing user interfaces that are smooth, quick and easy for everyone to use.

•Backend logic: writing APIs, implementing business rules, and handling authentication and security.

•Databases: designing schemas, writing queries, and managing data efficiently.

•Integration and deployment: understanding how to host applications, connect services, and maintain them.

This path suits students who enjoy building things that people can use and see. It leads to roles like Software Developer, Application Engineer, Web Developer, and Product Engineer—backbone roles in IT companies, start-ups, and tech-enabled businesses across India and beyond.

Cyber Security: Safeguarding the Digital Infrastructure

As more organizations digitize their operations, the number of cyber threats continues to grow. Data breaches, phishing attacks, ransomware, and system compromises are not just headlines—they are everyday real risks . This creates a strong and rising demand for trained cyber security professionals.

The Cyber Security specialization focuses on helping students think like defenders. They learn:

•The landscape of cyber threats and common vulnerabilities.

•Principles of secure coding, network security, and access control.

•Basics of ethical hacking and penetration testing.

•Incident response and risk management fundamentals.

This path is a natural fit for students who are curious, detail-oriented, and passionate about safety and trust in digital systems. It opens doors to roles such as Security Analyst, SOC Analyst, Security Engineer, or other positions where protecting systems and data is the primary responsibility.

The Industry-Ready Edge: More Than Just Syllabus Completion

At Lachoo Memorial College of Science and Technology, the MCA is designed around application, not just theory. Students regularly work on real projects—building AI models, developing web applications, or designing security solutions—so learning moves beyond exams to practical problem-solving.

The compulsory internship after Semester II gives early industry exposure, helping students understand real tools, workflows, and expectations while shaping their specialization choices.

In the final year, the capstone projects mentored by faculty becomes a professional showcase. By graduation, students have more than a degree—they have hands-on experience and portfolio-ready work that reflects their chosen field.

The idea is to first build strong foundations and then move towards expertise. At Lachoo College, we believe this shift from a general degree to a defined career path is what truly matters for students and parents today. Students graduate as specialized professionals shaped by a structured and purposeful journey. As a result, they enter the job market with a strong profile, practical exposure, and clear direction about their career goals.

Most students after 12th face the same doubt, will the degree I choose actually prepare me for industry work, or […]

Most students after 12th face the same doubt, will the degree I choose actually prepare me for industry work, or will it only help me pass exams? Choosing BCA is not just about picking the next program after school, instead it is a conscious step into the world of technology, where students begin to see themselves as future professionals.

At Lachoo Memorial College of Science & Technology, the BCA is built to move students beyond the four walls of the classroom through hands-on labs, early specialization, internships, and the PEFS (Professional Excellence & Future Skills) journey that runs alongside regular subjects. The BCA program at Lachoo college is aligned with India’s National Education Policy 2020, which calls for skill-based and holistic learning rather than rote preparation alone (Ministry of Education, 2020)1.

Building Strong Foundations in the Early Semesters

The early semesters of BCA program are built to help students get comfortable with the core building blocks of computer applications. Programming fundamentals, databases, web technologies, and basic problem‑solving skills are introduced in a structured way so that even students from non technical backgrounds can follow along.

Regular labs, project-based learning, guided practice turn theory into something students can actually see and do on a screen. As they move forward, students find that they are no longer writing programs just to clear an exam but begin to recognize how the same concepts are used to design, build, and run real software systems in companies and startups.

PEFS: Learning Beyond the Syllabus

One of the biggest strengths of the BCA program at Lachoo college is that students don’t just study subjects, they grow through PEFS – Professional Excellence & Future Skills – right from the start of their journey.

Through PEFS, students gradually work on their communication, teamwork, professional ethics, problem‑solving, and understanding of how the industry actually functions. Over the semesters, students participate in regular workshops, skill‑building activities, and interactions with professionals. This continuous practice means that by the time they reach higher semesters, they are not just good at coding or theory—they know how to present their ideas, work in teams, and carry themselves with confidence in real workplace settings.

Specialization That Gives Direction

One of the highlights of the BCA program is that, in the later semesters, it offers a clear path into specializations such as Artificial Intelligence & Data Science or Full Stack Development. Industry reports from bodies like NASSCOM and the World Economic Forum consistently point to AI, data science, and full stack development as some of the fastest‑growing, high‑demand areas in tech[2,3], so these are not just academic options—they are career‑shaping decisions.

In the Artificial Intelligence & Data Science specialization, students move past the “how-to” of syntax and learn the “why” of data. They learn to work with real datasets and build foundations of machine learning and deep learning. They are also introduced to mecahnics of Generative AI, understanding how intelligent systems and automation are actually used in real scenarios.

In the Full Stack Development specialization, the focus is on building something from start and seeing it come to life. In this end to end experience, students learn how the fit the pieces together—from the user interface on the front end, to the logic and APIs on the back end, to the databases that store information. This mimics the workflow of actual projects, which companies look for when they hire developers and select interns for real product teams.

Internship After Semester IV: Learning Beyond the Classroom

Another major highlight of the BCA program is the internship after Semester IV, which is closely linked with the goals of PEFS and is also in line with AICTE’s emphasis on mandatory internships and early industry exposure for students4. This gives students a chance to step out of the classroom and into real workplaces, where they can apply what they have learned, observe how teams function, and understand what is expected from them as young professionals.

By the time they reach their final semesters, students are no longer facing their first interview or first project they already have an internship experience to talk about, projects they have contributed to, and a clearer sense of which roles and domains suit them. This sets students apart giving them competitive edge during placements or when they apply for higher studies.

Learning Through Projects and Practical Exposure

Along with PEFS, students participate in vibrant ecosystem of interdisciplinary student led and coding clubs across diverse domains that build practical skills, confidence, and readiness for real industry roles.

When students learn through project-based learning and capstone projects, they are actually doing the kind of work they will be expected to do in real jobs. Working in teams, breaking down complex real‑world problems to manageable solutions, and presenting in front of others helps them naturally build communication, collaboration, and analytical thinking—exactly the kind of skills PEFS keeps reinforcing throughout the program.

The BCA program is more than collecting marks and a degree; it is a journey to slowly build a future, semester by semester. With specializations, internship and continuous growth through PEFS, students have the confidence and experience to enter a technology‑driven workplace and contribute from day one. Instead of graduating with confusion about “what now?”, BCA students graduate with clear understanding of their strengths, a portfolio of projects, and a realistic sense of the careers they can pursue.
